Sacrifice...we have our definitions of the word. Disabled veterans know the definition and have sacrificed greatly for our country. On behalf of disabled veterans' and all Americans that have sacrificed...I will be doing a solo motorcycle ride from West to the East Coast. The weeks being away from my wife and children is another way of showing that even in these hard times, each person can stand up to help others for a greater cause.
What is exactly is this ride and why?
I am planning on leaving on May 14th from Jamestown, CA and taking 6 days to travel the 3000+ miles. Along the way, I am planning to only sleep at VFW's...with my sleeping bag, tent and MRE's...because that is how we roll in the military!! I just finished medical school and unemployed...so, what better time to raise awareness of the closeness that our country once had and the reasons for why we enjoy this free country. There will also be a pair of empty military boots on my back seat...this is in memory of the hereos that aren't able to be able to enjoy my family and country. Yes, I myself am a wounded warrior and this ride will be a little challenging, but remember the old saying...there is always someone worse off than you!! All wanting to, may contact me through this blog and I will try to respond back ASAP. This is not about one man...but instead the strength and courage of all involved....living and deceased. Why this ride is so important!!
In chruch today, the priest summed up why I am doing this. It is to give to my community, the people I love, the country I love, and the organizations that are larger than anyone person. It is like in my marriage...I want to not just give a little, but instead everything that I can possible do to strengthen it...sometimes my wife my laugh at the last comment. I may not have the finances to help everyone out that I would like to, so this is the best thing that this man can do...give time and sacrifice...like so many of us have done and will continue to do.
