Brian's Back to Ground Zero
Sacrifice...we have our definitions of the word. Disabled veterans know the definition and have sacrificed greatly for our country. On behalf of disabled veterans' and all Americans that have sacrificed...I will be doing a solo motorcycle ride from West to the East Coast. The weeks being away from my wife and children is another way of showing that even in these hard times, each person can stand up to help others for a greater cause.
What is exactly is this ride and why?
I am planning on leaving on May 14th from Jamestown, CA and taking 6 days to travel the 3000+ miles. Along the way, I am planning to only sleep at VFW's...with my sleeping bag, tent and MRE's...because that is how we roll in the military!! I just finished medical school and unemployed...so, what better time to raise awareness of the closeness that our country once had and the reasons for why we enjoy this free country. There will also be a pair of empty military boots on my back seat...this is in memory of the hereos that aren't able to be able to enjoy my family and country. Yes, I myself am a wounded warrior and this ride will be a little challenging, but remember the old saying...there is always someone worse off than you!! All wanting to, may contact me through this blog and I will try to respond back ASAP. This is not about one man...but instead the strength and courage of all involved....living and deceased. recovering and reflecting
sorry about the mix up with updating the blog while I was gone!! I am back at home after the journey to ground zero, washington D.C., walter reid hospital and arlington. Those were my planned destinations but the saying of the journey is more important than the destination seems to fit with my trip. In 12 days, I saw more places than most will in a lifetime! In 12 days, I was blessed to met some wonderful people...they invited me into there homes, their lives, and their part of the world. This ride has started out to raise awareness and donations for wounded warriors and their continued fight back to become "normal".... but we, the wounded warriors are normal. We do and did what we do simply out of love for our country, families and homes. We do not expect anything in return. We only do our best, everyday, knowing that when we lay down...we gave it all we could. Not 110%....because their is no such thing...if you truely give all, it is only 100%.....nothing more, nothing less. My mind, body and spirit are healing so I am taking it easy on the contacts, phone calls, etc. but....this ride is not the end of my inputs into our wonderful country my family calls home. God Bless to all and say prayers for my new family and friends in Arkansas!!!

Getting Nervous and Excited
it is now thrusday...two days until my once in a lifetime ride!!!! Many individuals have been a part of this ride. Can't believe my wife and I started planning this only 5 weeks ago!! Picking up my MREs later today after work, changing the oil on my bike, going over my bike with mechanics, doing a final pack, tring to figure out the helmet cam donated by wps (thanks Clay...God Bless). Had a scare today with the 3 yr old taken to hospital by ambulance, but he is tough and back at home. Tring to spend the most of my time with the family and get ready at the same time!!!! Hopeing and praying to raise American spirits and get donations for my organizations. Even had to endure a write up in the local paper!!! Getting worried to leave my wife and kids for two weeks but is worth the sacrifice. Everytime I think of leaving my family it breaks my heart to not be here with them but then I remember how we (the veterans constantly are away from their loved ones) do what we do for our country, our family and our loved ones. God Bless everyone that reads this!!! IN GOD WE TRUST
